Bo! Selector …

Yes, a review.

Anyone who’s been reading sex toy reviews for anything more than the last five minutes will be familiar with Lelo. Cooly Scandavian, and achingly cool, everything about their vibrators screams chic design, first class build quality and toe curling efficiency. Check out Lily, Elise, Gigi and the rest of the silently buzzing sisterhood, if you’re a lady. Or, if you’re not, but you know one, and want her to be your best friend ever, check them out anyway. After all, Christmas is coming.

Bo is one of the first of their expansion into products for the other half of the population. It’s a cock ring, and comes in three parts: A tough but flexible ring of rubber, a small but powerful vibrator that slides onto the ring, activating itself in the process, and a charger. Yes, like all Lelo products (apart from the few inanimate ones), the batteries are rechargeable, from the mains. So, you get the best of both worlds: you don’t have to keep forking out for Duracells, and you don’t have to deal with a wire while you’re trying to enjoy yourself. The vibe takes about two hours to charge, and we’ve managed more than an hour of use before needing another feed. Incidently, the ring and vibe come with a small discrete and rigid carrying case, and it’s a sign of the thought gone into the design that you can recharge without even having to open the case. Oh – and one more thing: As with all Lelo products, it’s virtually slient in use. You won’t need to worry about frightening the horses (or, more likely, waking the kids).

As is usual with Lelo products, the packaging impressed from the first moment, and the good impressions continued after opening. The ring is stretchy, and is a snug fit even for me, but those more blessed shouldn’t have a problem, and may even find it an advantage once they’ve pulled it on. You then slot the vibe into place, slide it all the way across, and feel it start up. There’s no speed control – it’s all or nothing – but being attached where it is there’s plenty of control in terms of position and pressure.

We found it most successful for her experience when she got on top. She could move and press herself against the sensation for maximum effect, and while the effect on me wasn’t bad, she was sent into orbit, and then whizzed round for a couple more quick trips for good measure – something that’s rare when she’s in that position. When I was on top, and in control, it worked well too, but if you’re lazy (as I am), you’ll probably find yourself rolling over at some point, or at least being urged to roll over, and not resisting much. We even found it worked when, after a long workout, she was too tender to take me inside her, and I twisted it around and let her move herself against me. Did I start to feel a little like a sex toy, or at least, an extension to one? Maybe. Did I care? Well, duh …

At this point, I was starting to feel that this really was a toy for her, in disguise. However, I had something of a revelation when she gave me a long, slow, lube-enhanced “Swedish Massage” to go with the Swedish sex toy, after slipping it on. I’m not an easy comer, normally. After this, my legs were still shaking slightly when standing at a bar an hour or so later. I have tried it on my own since, but the difference isn’t as marked. Still, there’s no less value in the thing for that, not in my book.

Bo was a gift. It’s not cheap, but quality remains and value is sustained long after the price is forgotten. Although sold as a male toy, it’s probably fairer to say it’s a toy for couples, and she’ll enjoy it just as much, if not more than, you do. But so what? Let’s face it, chaps, if she’s happy, you are too. And there are fewer better ways to make her happy than wearing Bo …
